MARIANA MARIN.
My name is Mariana Marín Arenas.
I was born and live in Colombia. I’m 27 years old and have been an art model since July 2020.

My beginnings took place entirely online, in the middle of the pandemic. Discovering the art modeling community — and immersing myself in that inner exploration — truly saved a large part of my life during those turbulent times.

My passion for art modeling has always been tied to exploring the limits of my body, but also to collective fantasy and magic — to morality, and to the contradictions within the figurative art world, among many other things.

My expression has been shaped and affected by countless aspects of my daily life and context: posing constantly in a space barely two by two meters wide, the lack of safe public areas for photography in Colombia, the absence of a fine-art or artistic modeling community in my city, and more. Yet a great part of my journey has been influenced by my son — I say this openly. Thanks to him, I continued this path. He has been my greatest inspiration to keep moving forward, no matter how deeply fear or uncertainty cut. Because of him, I’ve fought to discover myself — and to allow myself to be discovered.
Stepping into the light was never easy for me, but art modeling has given me an abundance of freedom, self-discovery, deep friendships, and the chance to make dreams come true — above all, it has given me a community that values my expression, my humanity, and my art as a model.

In 2023, I began traveling across the world — visiting cities like London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh, among others. That’s when a new stage of my career began: as an international art model, posing for various groups, galleries, academies, and photographers on the other side of my world. Since then, I’ve made it a point to take at least one journey every year.

I don’t know how long I’ll remain in this world, but I do know that art modeling is now a part of me — inescapable. I’ll very likely keep stepping into small spaces, hanging from trees, posing on dunes at eight degrees Celsius, tangling wires in my hair, standing on my head, or proposing ideas that some may find strange or inappropriate.

Because I’m still creating new limits, and proposing new perspectives.
